Chart Your Own Graph!
Open Resource in New Tab
Now that you’ve had practice working with creating data visualizations, it’s your turn to find data and turn it into a meaningful visualization!
To find data, here are a couple of websites dedicated to collecting interesting and important data about our world:
- Kaiser Family Foundation: https://www.kff.org/statedata/
- Five Thirty Eight: https://data.fivethirtyeight.com/
- Socrata: https://opendata.socrata.com/
- GitHub’s Awesome Public Data Sets: https://github.com/awesomedata/awesome-public-datasets
When you’ve found an interesting data set, plug the data into the chart creator!
Once you’re done, make sure to save an image of your graph by clicking the three dots in the right hand corner and export to jpeg. Then, answer the following questions:
- Why did you choose this particular data set?
- What trends do you notice in the data that you’ve chosen? What can we do with this information?
