The following chart shows data from the National Science Foundation reflecting the number of Bachelor degrees awarded to females vs males.
Why might this chart be considered misleading?
The red line for Men sticks out more than the Blue line for women, which causes the difference to be exaggerated.
Because the X-Axis is only every other year, it is hard to tell what values are for what year.
The scale of the Y-Axis is too large. Smaller increments should be used to make the data easier to read.
The Y-Axis doesn’t start at zero so it exaggerates the difference between the genders.
